Why Hindu youth is behaving like this?

(Hi friends! Though www.spreadlaw.blogspot.com is dedicated only for spreading legal awareness but I am writing on a different subject. Will soon create a personal blog for this. Please bear! )

By Sumit Nagpal

It was such a hectic day coming to an end when I was moving towards my office after doing the story from Delhi High Court. Suddenly I got a call from someone that Prashant Bhushan has been attacked. Immediately, I rushed back to Supreme Court to see what is happening. We got the news and everyone got something to talk about. From Anna to Digvijay, all condemned attack on Prashant Bhushan in one voice.

I also tweeted that I condemn this attack on a lawyer. But the next moment, I got a question in my mind! Why? Why is that the some of our youth are behaving like fanatics? What has lead to the frustration among our youth that is so extreme that they are ready to break law in their own hands? Why is that they are no more deterred by law? I was surprised to see that all the political parties and leaders are condemning this attack but not a single one offers a solution! Not a single one tries to analyse that what is the reason behind this frustration.

I kept thinking about it and soon I realised that this is a problem which, if not looked upon, will create such a situation that we shall not be able to handle. Our political class is not realising that we are sitting on a pressure chamber which can explode anytime.

Reasons behind growing intolerance among Hindu youth

Appeasement of minorities

India is a victim of vote bank politics. The same results in appeasement of minorities. Every party wants to encash the votes of minorities and to do that the Hindu youth gets to hear the statements of likes of Digvijay Singh. In his visit to Azamgarh after the Batala House encounter took place, Digvijay Singh hinted that the encounter might be 'fake'. What impression would this statement have created in the minds of young people who saw Inspector Mohan Chandra Sharma losing his life in that encounter? Was Mr. Digvijay Singh an investigator to know this?
What would have a young Hindu boy thought when he would have heard the Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh saying that Muslims have first right over the national resources of the country? I want to ask the PM, Is the agony of a poor Muslim is better than that of a poor Hindu? Why to make such a distinction? Can't we say our national resources are for poorest of poor no matter what is their religion?

Alienation
Another major reason of rise in the frustration is a feeling of alienation from the ruling party. Whenever someone raises his voice for Hindu cause, his voice is immediately discredited by terming him as communal, RSS agent etc. In addition, there is almost no effort on the part of the government to reach out to people raising these voices. Shouldn't the political class of the country, specially, the ruling party try to reach out to these people and try to convince them that the interests of the majority community are also being taken care of? Will their voices end by just calling them, RSS agent or people of communal mindset? Why only Hindus are accused of being communal? Are Muslims of Kashmir not communal who had thrown out Kashmiri Pundits from the valley? Why this tag only for Hindus standing up for their own cause?

Tolerance
We all know India is a tolerant country, but should this tolerance be absolute? Why our government fails take action when likes of Arundhati Roy, Prashant Bhushan and Geelani openly express their voices that Kashmir should be given independence? Similarly when M F Hussain insults Hindu Gods and Goddesses, why the government remains a mute spectator? Could M F Hussain have survived if he had painted the Prophet in an Islamic country? I don't say that we should have hanged Hussain, but he could have been asked to tender an apology! Why are we tolerant to everything? Why our government remains a mute spectator even if the separatists from Kashmir come and spit on our faces in the heart of the capital? Why there is a FIR against Subramaniun Swamy and no action against Hussain? Are Hindus not entitled to protect the honours of their Gods and Goddesses? I must say that the political class needs to look into this aspect too!

Leadership vacuum
India is a country where more than 80% of the population consists of Hindus, but even after 60 years of independence, not a single political party has been able to provide effective leadership to this community. The BJP which came in power twice also failed to deliver on the core issues which led the party to power. I am not touching the Ram Mandir issue here but on other fronts like Uniform Civil Code, removal of Article 370 from Kashmir are such issues that an ordinary voter felt cheated. BJP might have their own explanations for that but the issue remains that these things could not be done.

Conclusion
The political class of this country must understand that there is a growing frustration among a class of Hindus and this issue needs immediate attention. Leaders like Digvijay Singh must understand that appeasement of one community may lead to anger in another class. The government of the day must try to reach out to this section of the society rather than just discrediting them by calling them RSS agent. And I am concerned and afraid that if this is not done soon, we may see more such incidents like what happened with Prashant Bhushan. Tomorrow, it may be Digvijay Singh and a day may come when BJP leaders may have to face the anger of some people for betraying them. I really hope sanity prevails and we become a better nation in the days to come.

  1. >> Why Hindu youth is behaving like this?

Don’t tar everyone with same brush. Dalit groups etc will be least interested in such an issue like what Prashant Bhushan is attacked.

    >> Appeasement of minorities

The marginalized sections among Muslims is worse than that of dalits. What appeasement are you talking about. If any, being a muslim removes the best of upliftment measures the same person/community would have otherwise had. The upper caste hindu are the most well off socially/educationally/economically. And they are the ones cribbing!

    >> In his visit to Azamgarh after the Batala House encounter took place, Digvijay Singh hinted that the encounter might be 'fake'.

So you are searching excuses? Alleging fake encounters is a common part of political process. Happens all the time in tribal areas for example. This is nothing compared to hindutva driven violence/terrorism/riots etc like 1992, 2002, Orissa, attacks on Hussain, attacks on women, places of worship, targeted attacks on people of other religions etc by the likes of VHP/Bajrangdal.

    >> What would have a young Hindu boy thought when he would have heard the Prime Minister Dr.Manmohan Singh saying that Muslims have first right over the national resources of the country?

Again, misinformation. The PMO clarified that it is about all marginalized sections. How does it help you to spread misinformation?

    >> Whenever someone raises his voice for Hindu cause, his voice is immediately discredited by terming him as communal, RSS agent etc.

Depends on the cause. If your 'hindu cause' is to bring down mosques, perpetuating/justifying riots, vandalism etc, it is of course communal. But if it issues like access to quality education, jobs etc, more than welcome.

    >> Why only Hindus are accused of being communal?

No, even muslims who take to extremism/terrorism are called communal.

    >> We all know India is a tolerant country

Not those of caste hindus who discriminate on dalits and low castes. Not the followers of Godse, VHP, RSS, Ram Sene, Bajrangdal etc.

    >> when M F Hussain insults Hindu Gods and Godesses, why the government remains a mute spectator?

You want the govt to behave like hindutva or islamist extremists and like Taliban?

    >> Could M F Hussain have survived if he had painted the Prophet in an Islamic country?

So want to pick up the worst of examples around the world and follow it?

    >> Why there is a FIR against Subramaniun Swamy and no action against Hussain?

You object to the FIR on Arundhati Roy also? Why the double standards?

    >> The political class of this country must understand that there is a growing frustration among a class of Hindus

That class is the power hungry upper classes who are just not satisfied with the riches/power they already have.

  2. Gujarat is developing because it no has to play stupid minority appeasement politics.......its example of a fine Hindu rastra........there are dozens and dozens of failed islamic states.....muslims create division in society and spread hate through the mosques

  3. Congress's Apeasement Politics is taking India to a very Low level and on the brink of another Partition. If this time a war broke out between India and Pakistan, then surely, Indian Muslims will support Pakistan in a bigway, and we all Hindus must understand this. Congress can go to any level to divide Indian Society to any level.

  4. "Don’t tar everyone with same brush." Mr Sunil, same time you are becoming spokesperson for all Dalits. You are trying to say that there couldn't be a difference in ideology.
The era of appeasement for minority started with the Shah Bano case and later for appeasing majority Rajiv gandhi started election campagiin from Ayodhya.
Till the time the whole nation is not enveloped with universal laws rather than personal laws we cannot think of a overall growth specially for Muslims.
If encounter like Batala hose could be called as fake then a famous hindi line must be get omitted that "Pratyaksh ko praman ki avashaykta nahi hoti" how a live encounter could be called a fake and people giving such statements are still not called as anti national.
A riot or attack can never be justified but the Gujrat riot never been occurred if media didn't tried justify the burning of coaches to some hooligans. On statement given by our prime minister I would like to be silent like him.
Singing of national song is against ethics of shahi imam of delhi and he is secular? shashiTharoor uses lord ganesha in his book and called him a elephant. It is secular? we can see a lot of TV ad making fun of hindu lord but no oppose may be seen. Why not any one dare to make fun of any one else religion. The single reason behind it that Hinduism is the religion of tolerance but there must be a limit.
Godse did a unforgivable offence for which gandhi forgiven him in his life only. We talk about Godse killed Gandhi but anyone ask why he did it. Why? he was wanting of British raj? No certainly not . I am not trying to justify his cause but it was the same situation which we are facing today. that time even our government was dead against of Gandhi's idea. Before commenting VHP, RSS or any other org please watch them closely.
Why people cannot be away from controversies. After so much of objection Hussain never left his act and it is government responsibility to upkeep the morale of their citizen.
As Justice Markandey Katju says that India is a place of diversity where 92% of people came from outside so tolerance is the root of this country. For the people who pretends to sleep its worthless to try them to be awake.

  5. Nishikant Jha:

    >> The era of appeasement for minority started with the Shah Bano case

How are you impacted by that case, BTW? Is anyone forcing you not to give alimony etc? Not that I support what was done in Shah Bano case, but why pretend as if you are victim, and as if that victimhood justifies violence etc.

    >> Till the time the whole nation is not enveloped with universal laws rather than personal laws

Again, tell me how you are impacted? Is anyone forcing anyone to have upto 4 wives etc? Actual incidence of polygamy is not much different anyway.

    >> If encounter like Batala hose could be called as fake ...

Fake encounters, false cases, police atrocities etc happen all the time and some sections like tribals/muslims are most vulnerable and frequent victims of it (due to various stigma attached). Nothing wrong in any one raising questions and demanding assurance etc. That is a right thing to do.

    >> A riot or attack can never be justified but the Gujrat riot never been occurred if media ...

Blaming others for ones own evil? If an islamist terrorist organization says that they are blasting because media is biased against their communities suffering/injustice etc, will that be acceptable? (that is exactly what all terrorist organizations say, BTW). Only one responsible for any evil is no one else, but oneself alone.

    >> Singing of national song is against ethics of shahi imam of delhi and he is secular?

And that is supposed to be biggest national problem? More than the problems are all the poor, dalits, education, health, jobs etc? And that ‘problem’ supposedly justifies all the hindutva based riots/violence/terror etc? What an argument! The shahi imam did not do anything remotely close to the violence perpetuated in the name of hindutva.

    >> Why not any one dare to make fun of any one else religion.

Every religion has its critics. Just that some people want to use a pretext to justify their own violence/extremist actions (by claiming others are not being criticized etc). But yes, a victim of caste or someone close to it, for example will likely criticize the that etc.

    >> After so much of objection Hussain never left his act and it is government responsibility to upkeep the morale of their citizen

Again, you want the govt to be like Taliban? There are different views about Hussain. Majority, like the poor/dalits etc have much more serious issues to worry about. Many hindu traditionalists see nothing offensive as well. If you have problem, you should lodge a complaint - why indulge in talibanism?

  6. Why government did not file criminal offance u/s 153 & 153B IPC against Prashant Bhushan for demanding plebiscite on Kashmir against sovereignty & integrity of nation. He went to extent to separate Kashmir if they demand which corroborate separatists demands. Today if you accede demands for Kashmir, tomorrow you will have to leave Punjab, Nagaland, Mezopur, Tamil Nadu,

So, In my opinion, if government had taken hard action against Prashant this beating & kicking of Bhushan could have been averted.

Thirdly, Government must restrict u/s 153B for any utterances against separation of any part or state from India by any NGO or any individual with heavy punishment like sedition or treachery

  7. Appeasement of minorities by congress is just NAUTANKI a symbolic one . Hindus see that muslims are favored but it not changed ground situation of muslims .surely Hindus think they were treated like class two citizens in their only desh.

  8. Mr Sunil : As per your logic I m not supposed criticize a terrorist attack or a riot or any such barbaric incidents because I am not impacted. Hindus of this country should not criticize laws like POTA because they are not impacted. What a bullshit logic. When u dont have a point to argue, u resort to quibbling.

  9. Sameer, I did not say that one should not criticize Shah Bano incident (or whatever). But using that as if it is the cause of ones own victimhood, which in turn justifies ones violence/riots etc, is what I commented on. In fact, even being a victim also does not justify taking to violence.

That's like saying, if Pak govt acted on Salman Taseer, it would not have needed for Qadri to kill him. In other words, Govt should act like a Taliban, or else private Taliban will take over.

So enforcing laws is equal to being taliban.. lol!!! u have great logic!!!

Dude get real understand the topic and then comment -- not just for the heck of it.

  12. The general mood of the Hindu youth has been set down in writing. Yes there is shameless lip service appeasement of muslims but this will not help the congress. The sad part of it is apart from this posturing muslims are in no way benefited by it. It only serves to frustrate & irritate Hindus & isolate them further. The people have seen through the 3rd rate divisive retrograde cancerous nature of the treacherous Congress Party. If we go to polls right now with tight security like during TN polls & paper ballot dont be surprised if Cong wins anywhere around 20-30 seats

-Just because there are some issues about dalits, doesn't really mean that we shouldn't care about other things...

This is similar to the arguement that India should be worrying about it's poverty and shouldn't spend on defence...
    All the issues are important...

And Indian govt had done a lot for Dalits... Just remove your Castist lenses and see the development that took place in the last 60 years...

And all other comments are not even worth replying.
As someone said, you rarguements are just vitandavaad...

  15. Bharat, where did I say that enforcing law through police/courts is like Taliban? But to say that if courts differ with your personal opinions, then you will resort of violence, that is what I am commenting upon.
